Microsoft Sued Violating "Live Tile" Patents


SurfCast has accused Microsoft of violating patents related to the "live tile" used in Windows 8.

File lawsuits have been filed in court Tuesday SurfCast District of Maine, U.S. District Court. Companies based in Portland, Maine, is demanding a sum of money for patent infringement and attorney's fees.



The patents are infringed U.S. Patent 6,724,403, entitled "System and Method for Simultaneous Display of Multiple Information Sources". Top SurfCast creation and his work has been awarded in 2004.
